OUGD501 ARTIVIVE

After my crit I reviewed all of my options of how the practical work could continue. I began by sourcing an article that I could turn into a printed publication with digital aspects. I found this one on Its Nice That about how people consume most information digitally now and how this designer, Steve Hockett, has tailored his printed media to a digital format. He has done this by including animations and interactive elements. I thought that I could perhaps take this article and transform it into my ideal publication however, that would require using his work which wouldn't work ethically. I also think the work load wouldn't be great enough for that brief.

After reading this article I finally noticed that I should also create something just like these animated posters. These posters translate information on a strictly digital only format, but could also be used in print minus the animated aspect. After some research into printed matter and animations I found this app called Artivive which uses artificial intelligence to animated printed matter on your mobile device. This effect makes it seem like the thing you're looking at is moving but it's actually staying still, bridging the gap between printed media and digital.

I have finally decided that my physical work will be a poster or flyer that will be a fully functional gif through the use of this app and also a piece of top quality printed work. I will find an event which will be the content of my work and see if I am able to translate the information of it clearly using print and digital.
