Initial Ideas Membership Card
My final idea for the membership card has been refined to its final form which is to lino print peoples initials to the card when purchased. The post printed card will have a very simple and minimalist design with a simple but of type and maybe an illustration.
My first idea was to have a line drawing of quite a stereotypical strong man. The kind of man you could expect to see in a pub like this. Originally I wanted to letterpress the name of the member on the card and that would fir on the line below the illustration. Now by changing my idea and lino printing large initials in colour I feel like it would give the card more character and style. Contrasting these too styles seems more appealing then just having the whole card very simple.
Here is a distort illustration of a dog with the title of the pub simply placed below it. Even though the illustration is unclear you can still tell what it is. Having it nice and small too really contrasts against what it would look like after the print. I felt like this illustration might be a bit distracting to the eye when the card has been printed on however. So maybe by either increasing the size of simplifying the detail it could become more suitable.
After several experiments with size and line thickness, I have decided to fully strip the illustration down to the bare minimum. I found that these previous designs were way too distracting when imaging what they would look like after the print. Now I have done an incredibly simple silhouette line drawing of a dogs head. I feel like this compliments the type perfectly especially by deciding to have them both the same weight. This is better then the previous ideas as it would be less distracting when viewing the print. I feel like this would even compliment the print as a hole.
