Triangulations and Referencing

Triangulation and Referencing

I find that today, contemporary printmaking has driven artists to branch away from traditional printing techniques and mess around with lots of other medias, to produce lots of new designs in different formats. In the past printmakers have been 'slaves to the clock' Dehn, Revolution of Printmaking 2, 2017, forcing their work to be very linear and rule based. However in modern times there had been a lot of digital influence on traditional printing techniques, 'There has been and explosion in technical and especially digital invention in various printmaking techniques' Phillips & Rob, Modern and Contemporary prints, 2004. This isn't known as a particularly negative thing as to me it seems it has been adopted by the creative industries and galleries. 'Galleries have opened with a strong trend towards contemporary art' Phillips & Rob, Modern and Contemporary prints, 2004. This is a good thing as it will open a more people eyes to new techniques, but it bakes the question of what will happen to out traditional techniques.
